I 1. What did you enjoy most about this project?
I enjoyed the overall process of this backpack project. We were given the opportunity to meet someone new, and really get to know them if you didn't know them already. I believe my partner was Julian and I have known him my entire life. I also enjoyed the making process because of all the little cute cardstock papers. We had to be creative and this is the ONLY project where I didn't have trouble being creative because I had step by step instructions on what Julian wanted on a backpack. This is probably the funnest project we've ever done.
2. What did you learn?
I learned about the creative thinking process, or so I think that's what it was called. This process made everything seem harder than it really was. It was too much exaggerated talk about a simple topic that could have been explained in a simpler way. The creative thinking process was not needed in my opinion. I remember for one project I can't put my finger on Hirsch actually got rid of the thinking process and it was such a simpler procedure. Most students were kind of confused when the process was introduced.
3. What about the project are you most proud of?
I am most proud of meeting the requirements that Julian wanted. He had difficult ideas to create. It was tough but I did it and he liked his makeshift backpack. The straps fit him correctly in 1 try. I am proud of my creation and that he liked it.
4. What grade did you receive on the project? What are your thoughts about the grade you received?
I received a 20 out of 20 on all parts of this project. I am all for my grade on the backpack. I DID AN AWESOME JOB NOT TO TOOT MY OWN HORN BUT.. I DID GREAT. I am so happy with my grade.
5. What would you change or improve upon if you had the chance to do this project all over again?
I would absolutely do nothing differently if I had another chance to do the project all over again. Just kidding I might want to top myself again and top my backpack. I would want to create an even better backpack. I don't exactly know how because I don't remember what exactly I put on the backpack or what paper I used.
6. What advice would you give to next year's class about this assignment?
The advice I would give to next year's class is to have fun with it and to not be shy about meeting people because at the end of the day this class is a friendly environment. From what I can say I know its a friendly environment. No one is mean in here its a safe environment. Yes although it can be seen as an intimidating class because of the upperclassmen, it is actually pretty calm. Have fun and meet new people.
7. What if anything , should the teacher change about this project in order to improve it?
For me there is nothing that Hirsch has to change to make the project better. The only thing I have to say to him about projects like these is to HAVE US DO MORE OF THESE. These projects are ones that the class really enjoys and it is easy to grasp the concept of the thinking process. This was the absolute highlight of the year, and the funnest project ever. We all looked forward into coming to class and completing our backpacks because we all had fun with it.
