1. Now that you have completed this project, what do you notice about yourself when you look at your self portraits?
Now that I completed the project, I notice that I cannot draw for anything still. My artistic skills are about at a solid -29. I suck at drawing and I still notice that I don't like to show my selfies in a classroom. I feel awkward and shy when people ask me if that is mine. It makes me a little sad because it is not like the rest.
2. How was your experience with drawing a self portrait?
Drawing a self portrait was just what I expected it to be. HARD AND STRESSFUL. I have no creative bone in my body. I like structure and exact directions. Since this was a creative project where there really isn't any rules on how to, or what not to do it made it stressful and difficult for me. I cannot handle being free to do what ever I want because that is not what my mind likes. It likes to follow directions not to be free and creative.
3. Why do you think we did this project? What do you think the teacher wanted you to learn?
I think we did this project for 2 reasons. The first one would be to take a little break from all the computers and somewhat strict assignments. Also, to tie in another assignment into digital art. It shows us that we can manipulate and create the same product that shows in the picture. If we can manipulate it on a computer screen we can manipulate it on a piece of paper if that makes sense.
4. If you were the teacher, what comments would you make about this piece? What grade would you give it?
If I was the teacher and I had to grade my own piece I would give it around an 80% or higher. It is not the best and it does not look as professional as the rest but to me I actually put in a lot of effort into making this portrait look presentable and decent. Like I mentioned before it is not as great as others but to me I think its the best I could have done and I am proud of it. It meets the requirements, outlined, traced, the background has things that I love. I feel that I deserve a B.
5. What would you change if you had a chance to do this piece over again?
If I had the chance to redo this portrait all over again I would definitely change the amount of small details. I would definitely add more and make it look better that what it looks like right now because I think it looks pretty decent. Maybe I would change the picture to one that doesn't have my hand but since I recently got a new phone I did not have a different picture.
6. What did you learn about drawing or art from doing this project?
I learned to be very careful when tracing something because even a small little detail can really affect your entire picture and makes it look not like the original. You also have to have great hand eye coordination to trace everything the correct way.
